Gathering observes international day to remember those slain in acts of intolerance.

They were killed because they were different.

But today, during a vigil calling for an end to violence that claimed at least 37 lives in the past 12 months, those men, women and children whose lives blurred traditional gender lines will be remembered as friends, family members, loved ones -- and victims of hatred, intolerance and ignorance.

Street prostitution is a dangerous career choice.

Almost all of these "victims" die in:

1) Street prostitution incidents

2) Situations where a drunk, dangerous guy finds he has been duped in his bar-room pick up by a six inch surprise.

Question: When is a crime NOT a hate crime?

Suggestion to male perverts who like to dress up as women: STOP IT! Or at least understand the chances you're taking.

Hoo-ray for VICTIMHOOD!!

"Over the last decade, one person per month has died due to transgender-based hate or prejudice, regardless of any other factors in their lives," Smith said.

A vigil doesnt do any good - that is a liberal reaction.

Transgenders simply need to utilize the right to bear arms.

Those individuals who want to murder, attempt to murder, or assault transgenders, need to be shot several times by a .357 to better teach them that physically harming others is wrong.

They can see a relationship or friendship with a person they perceive to be male or female -- especially if there is intimacy -- as being tricked into some kind of homosexual relationship and become very angry or aggressive."

Well, duh! If you live like trash, you're taking serious risks, irrespective of your gender or trans-gender.

Liberal victimhood is indeed basically "DUH!"

Statewide, 25 crimes based on sexual orientation were reported during 2000, 2001 and 2002, according to the Indiana State Police.

Eight CRIMES per year for sexual orientation... not even 8 deaths, deadly assaults, or rapes. That's likely one death, two fights, one rape, one theft, and three intimidation charges... per YEAR.

THIS is a story?

I think the larger story is that there are ONLY eight, and that this group doesn't deserve "preferred victim status" since they're so infrequently troubled!!!

Beating someone to death, just because they are different is not excusable. It is not excusable to beat Blacks to death because they are different. It is not excusable to beat Jewish people to death because they are different. It is not excusable to beat Arabs to death because they are different. It is all the same thing.

YOu are right, murder is murder, assault is assault, and killing in self-defense is self defense. Blacks, jews, arabs, transgenders, etc. all need to strongly support pro-gun ccw candidates.

Of course not, but I don't think that's the main issue in these deaths. Prostitutes and people picking up strangers for sex are beaten (stabbed, shot, strangled) to death all the time, even when they haven't misrepresented their gender.

It's not dressing as the opposite sex, in itelf, that's the source of the violence, but rather the context. It's frustrating, because common sense would avoid these deaths. Folks aren't hunting through Wal-mart on a Friday afternoon looking for men dressed as women to beat up!

"Folks aren't hunting through Wal-mart on a Friday afternoon looking for men dressed as women to beat up!"

I doubt that normal people would, however there are some awfully sick individuals walking the streets. I think some of them might even be picking up women, looking for an excuse to kill them, after raping them. Finding a surprise would probably add to their violence.

I do believe that prostitution is very dangerous and demeaning to the prostitute. However, I have to temper my judgement of prostitutes, because for some of them, that is the only way they are able to survive. However, I do believe that pimps are due the harshest possible punishment, because they are enslaving the prostitutes.

Transgenders are primarily victims of their own brains, being so dissatisfied with their exterior forms, that they start cutting things off.

No argument there! And I agree that concealed carry is one of the obvious answers, especially for people who feel threatened. If their fears are unjustified, then they haven't lost anything by being prepared ... maybe they'd even get a chance to defend someone else. And if they're attacked; well, as a small woman, I certainly appreciate Beretta as an equalizer!

I know you meant that to be funny, but I have seen the procedure done on a medical film, and in a M-F procedure, it is not actually "cut off", it is sliced lengthwise, and skinned, and more or less gutted with the insides taken out, and then both parts(inside and outside) are reshaped/sanded down, remolded, and used to make new and different shaped parts. All the outside skin from the old parts are used to make new inside skin. Looks pretty painful, and it makes repeated electrolysis treatments beforehand to get rid of all the hair in that area somewhat mild, relatively(No patients seem to want to go bike riding or horseback riding the next day). Lots of drainage, puss, catheters, and trying to keep all the openings open post-op. I personally cant think of a worse torture on anyone(even has the old japanese trick of ripping off your eyelids beat!). Volunteers anyone?

"Transgenders" are severely delusional. They should not be encouraged to carry weapons. Personally, I have vowed to myself to never cater to their delusions. Hell, I don't even consider them to be humans anymore.

I encourage all noncriminal American citizens to support and exercise their right to bear arms. I have no sympathy for those who attack or want to harm others, no matter who they are.

If they are American citizens, they have a right to bear arms. In 37 states they have a right to carry a concealed weapon for self defense.

It doesnt matter if they are transgender, old, fat, bald, homosexual, lesbian, jew, catholic, black, yellow, or whatever.

If they are attacked/threatened, they have a right to shoot. I fully support their right to keep and bear arms, and to defend themselves as best they can.

What are you worried about? If you dont like it, dont attack them.
