RE the business name, do you have to do anything legal (like incorporate), or just make up a name?

All I had to do was make sure that the name Alpha Connections, which I am using, was to register the name with the state of Idaho to make sure registered someone else in the state of Idaho was not using it.

It is not incorporated, just a DBA, sole proprietorship.

I am using two companies, LightningSource and ContentReserve to distribute the eBooks. LightningSource is also printing and distributing my printed version to the same channel (ie. Amazon, barnes & Noble online, BooksAMillion, Wal-Mart online, etc.)

I'm published by Steelcutter Publishing, which is my "DBA" name. I think it cost $30 and an hour or two in some Cali state gove offices.
