Slowly the case is being built and in about 6-8 months just when the RATs are about to nominate whichever traitor they will nominate the boom will be lowered. The truth about the Saddam/OBL partnership and the location of many forbidden weapons will be revealed. At that point the RATs will be road kill and the RATmedia further exposed, disgraced and discredited.
The Party of Evil needs killing and the sooner, the better.

Even if all that happened as you say, the "controversy" would shift to whether Bush sat on the info for political purposes (i.e. for a new "October surprise"), and how horrible that would be.
