And this is a story about a woman whose dehydration wasn't for the purpose of killing her (she got intravenous fluids), yet she was in great agony.

I cannot even stand the thought of starving to death. I remember fasting for world hunger in my college days (with liquids) and it was very, very uncomfortable. Take away the water and it would be even worse.
