Another problem apparently is Democrats running as a Republican.
The New York Mayors race comes to mind. If we have two democrats running for a position, what choices do the voters have, you vote for the devil or the witch.

There was a conservative choice to former Democrat Michael Bloomberg in the Republican primary, former Rep. Herman Badillo, another former Democrat. Yet, GOP voters wanted a "winner" with MONEYBAGS; so they nominated Bloomberg by a wide margin. Then Bloomberg won two months after 9-11, based in part on his support from Giuliani, whom he now is undermining.
