In that case, why are the courts erasing Christianity from the public sphereThey are not. They are saying that government may not promote specific beliefs. Government is not all of "society" or even "the public sphere", not by a long shot.

They have said that public schools = govt, that all public courthouses = govt, public parks = govt (as they make their tyrannical ruling from a building emblazoned with the 10 commandments). Any public thing = govt. Case in point: Boy Scouts cannot use Balboa Park in San Diego becuase they were deemed a religious org. by the ACLU and their lackey fed. judge! Want to defend that?
