I was in court the other day and couldn't help but notice that the judge's courtroom (this is the courtroom, not her chambers) was decorated with a whole slew of "multicultural" type decorations -- mainly Kwanza stuff. The courtroom was also decorated with a bunch of nature pictures with various bible verses mainly from the book of proverbs and the book of psalms.
So far no one has complained. I know I'm not going to complain as I find it refreshing that a Judge recognizes that there is an authority higher than themselves to whom they expect to answer someday.
Because of this judge's reputation as being somewhat liberal and because she is a "woman of color" I think it will be a cold day in hell before she is asked by anyone to remove the pictures. But I really wonder if a white male judge with a southern accent would be given the same slack.
Good news for your theory, PM.
Moore went out of his way to mention that there was a statue of a Greek Goddess (I think he said Athena) in the courtyard of the District Court. Said he could care less. Didn't make him worry about justice.
I believe he just acknowledged another direction -- your direction -- that he would go. You are the first I saw or read of the theory of "art" and "speech."
Did you write any articles on it?
