This NWS office just upped their forecast; interesting to see if they verify, already some debate on weather boards.
If they're correct these are basically similar to the Isabel winds over MD that had hundreds of thousands without power for a week or more...there really wasn't much in the way of actual hurricane force winds over MD/VA from Isabel.
Should be much windier than the similar windstorm the day of the ferry accident/ALCS Game 6.
Of course, there will be similar winds in the entire Northeast.
Saw some neat pics of the Lake Erie blowout; the whole lake basically gets blown from West to East, huge mudflats in the western part of the lake, flooding in Buffalo.

I'm in the Hammond / Gary area of North Indiana and the wind here had gusts to 60 mph at the Gary airport last night. The wind is still at 35 - 40 mph now.

I left the house at 7:00 a.m. this morning to go to work and walked across the Queensboro bridge into Manhattan. The winds were picking up then and made it real hard to walk. I hate to see what its going to be like when I walk home.

No, the high winds are all Pres. Bush's fault of course.

No, the high winds are all Pres. Bush's fault of course.
Yes. If the Senate did not have to waste time with the 30 hour session, these winds would have been controlled by legislation.

Probably caused by terrorists. Hmmm. They DID promise something during Ramadan in LA, NY and DC. So far 2 of the 3 have had freak weather. Yesterday's LA hailstorm, today's NY hurricane force winds. I don't know, if I was a middle eastern kook, I'd say Allah was saying something. If a tornado rips through downtown DC in the next day or so, I'd start wondering...
(I'm joking of course...)

Was Al Gore giving a speech in NYC today?
To: John H K
Maybe all that HOT AIR being produced in the Senate will off set it.

Should knock the annoying straggling leaves out of my trees, allowing me to rake them up once and for all.
It'll probably knock down a few dead branches too. I've got one right near where I park my car. I've been meaning to pull it down with a rope, but hopefully I won't have to after today. (I moved my car.)
