[history]
Elton John and Bernie Taupin have written a lovely new song for Julia Roberts' forthcoming film "Mona Lisa Smile."
The song, "The Heart of a Girl," is the only contemporary recording on an outstanding soundtrack of songs from the early 50s on this Christmas release.

I'd have thought he titled it "White Picket Fence"
in honor of those teeth.

He should have called it, "I saw your lips in a dream. They were latched on the end of my hook."

It seems to me, you lived your life
like an overrated skanky ho
Attracted to worthless losers
and lips like a freezer do'
I would have done you
but I'm a fruit
your career died out long before
Anyone gave a hoot.

The song will sound suspiciously like "Candles in the Wind" (as do all his more recent songs). But it's touching that one has-been queen salutes another.

Julia Roberts is still beautiful. I don't like her politics, but she's a babe. Kirsten Dunst is also pretty cool.
Howeve, Drew Barrymore is still the queen of "the liberal chick that can give you heart pop" category.

I really liked Elton's Tumbleweed Connection album. Yes I said album. That and Madman Across the Water.
Once he got to Honky Tonk Chateau and then Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, I couldn't listen anymore.

"The Heart of a Girl" "The Mouth of a Frog". Come on, Elton, you know you were thinking it...

I had no idea she died
To: Tumbleweed_Connection
Me thinks Sir Elton would rather write a love song for Princess Charles.

I'm sure it's no coincidence that writers Lawrence Konner and Mark Rosenthal chose the year they did; the world is just on the precipice of rock and roll, the civil-rights movement and a new social, sexual awakening. Once again I'm out of the loop.
