Terrorists Are Losing Their Battle (Arab News)
Arab News ^ | 11/12/03 | Raid Qusti

The month of Ramadan when Muslims all over the world ask God for forgiveness and mercy; the month when the Qur’an came down with the Angel Gabriel to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him); the month of prayers, patience, harmony, and good deeds has turned into a deadly series of terrorist blasts in Makkah and Riyadh.

Police forces raided a terrorist cell in Al-Sharei district in Makkah foiling an attack on pilgrims and seizing a large cache of weapons and explosives.

A few days later, and perhaps for the first time in our country, two terrorist incidents happen simultaneously on the same day. Two terrorists from the Makkah cell, refusing to surrender to police, blow themselves up after engaging with police in a gunfight.

And in Riyadh, a gun battle took place in Al-Suwaidi district between Islamist militants and police forces. Sunday, Nov. 9, was the most devastating terrorist attack since May 12.

On Sunday afternoon, I went to the bomb-blasted compound with a colleague. The moment I had passed the entrance, an eerie feeling crept into my veins as I saw the villas with smashed windows, or without any windows at all. Cars riddled with bullet holes were covered with blankets of dust and ashes.

As we continued to walk by the haunted villas, we got closer to the place where the car bombs exploded. I could hear the sounds of bulldozers, jackhammers, trucks and machinery as I got closer. And then suddenly, there it was.

Jackhammers worked their way through twisted metal and rubble. Bulldozers lifted rubble and debris. It looked as though an A-bomb had been dropped on the place. The blast was so powerful that building units, scores of them, were no longer habitable even if they did not collapse. Other buildings still standing were like skeletons. It would be a matter of time until they too would have to be knocked down. “Good lord,” I said to myself as I walked in the rubble.

I could see the remains of innocence. A twisted bike, a pillow buried in the rubble, even a small mattress stained with blood. According to the Filipino workers hired by the municipality, several of the bodies pulled from beneath the rubble were children.

The car bomb caused windows to crack in the Diplomatic Quarter one kilometer away. It also created a crater in the ground that was six feet deep and 15 feet wide.

Never before in my life had I seen so much devastation and wreckage firsthand. I will never forget it as long as I live, and I pray to God that it will be the last bomb-struck area I have to visit in Saudi Arabia.

Just before leaving the compound, I got into conversation with one of its residents who was watching the chaos. His face was filled with shock and disbelief as he looked on. “I am a doctor and I treat Catholics, Muslims, and followers of all different faiths... in the end, though, they are all humans,” he told me.

“Somebody has got to listen to these people — the terrorists — and see what they want. People living in this compound were not Westerners, they were Arabs. Do they think we are infidels because some women here do not cover their hair or wear abayas? If that is the case, there are methods in Islam for propagating your message. Propagation is not blowing up buildings and killing children,” he said angrily. As I was leaving I asked myself: “Why did the terrorists target a compound where Arab expatriates lived?”

The fact that they committed these heinous acts in Islam’s holy month and in the holy city of Makkah should leave no one in any doubt that these people are followers of the devil not of God or any religion. One thing is clear. These terrorists are losing their battle. They thought that such attacks and others would make Saudis revolt against the government and our leadership, but what has happened is the exact opposite.

Saudis are more patriotic than ever under the leadership of the country. They are setting aside their differences and are determined to fight one common enemy— extremism.

It's good to have allies in the fight against the Dems, even if they live in SA!

What do they want? They want anyone who does not follow their fundamentalist beliefs to the letter to be blown off the face of the earth. If you are looking for someone you can reason with, you are deluding yourselves.

Ah, yes. "Do they think we are infidels?" It would have been different had the compound been predominantly western.
But it wasn't and now the cheese commences to bind. "Go blow up indidels!Leave the faithful alone." Cal Thomas was correct in his assesmant of the culture. The quicker we all realize it the better off we'll be.

Funny thing....

I very seriously doubted any Jews or Christians were dancing in the streets and/or passing out candy to kids in celebration of this bombing.

Which is not to say that there is no "welcome to our world" schadenfreude going around.

The Saudis have been paying Danegeld for years and years, hoping that it buys them immunity. Now they find it doesn't.

Now for spin of what good news would be:

The month of Ramadan when Muslims all over the world ask God for forgiveness and mercy and victory over evil kaffirs; the month when the Qur’an came down with the Angel Lucifer to the Pedophile Muhammad (peace be upon him); the month of prayers, patience, savagry, and good deeds has turned into a victorious series of terrorist blasts in NYC, Moscow, Washington, Vladikovkaz, London, Haifa, New Dheli and Belgrad.

“Somebody has got to listen to these people — the terrorists — and see what they want.

They want to control your mind, and they're not willing to negotiate the fact. Deal with it.

People living in this compound were not Westerners, they were Arabs. Do they think we are infidels because some women here do not cover their hair or wear abayas?

Yes, they do.

If that is the case, there are methods in Islam for propagating your message.

They are using a method in Islam for propagating their message. One that Saudi Arabia has been financing in Israel and one that the zakat has been used to finance terrorism throughout the world.

Propagation is not blowing up buildings and killing children,” he said angrily.

I feel for his loss, but he is really saying that propagating is not blowing up arab muslims, it's ok to blow up non-muslims.

The fact that they committed these heinous acts in Islam’s holy month and in the holy city of Makkah should leave no one in any doubt that these people are followers of the devil not of God or any religion.

Better watch out, this is EXACTLY what General Boykin said, and he's got the democrats and Islamic talking heads calling for his head, you may be next for insulting/offending muslims.

One thing is clear. These terrorists are losing their battle. They thought that such attacks and others would make Saudis revolt against the government and our leadership, but what has happened is the exact opposite.

Al Qaeda has shown some facility at destroying things, but they haven't evidenced anything approaching quality geopolitical analysis.

If you started reading this in the middle you'd think he were talking about Israel, wouldn't you?

Even the bigots amonst the Arabs see the carnage, now that it is a fellow Arab and not an "infidel".
This is - to paraphrase Churchill - the beginning of the end. The Al Quaeda plan is simple:
- Terrorism is about terrorizing. Creating fear that changes behavior. What behavior do they want to change?
They want to cut the Arabs off from the West. so they go after westerners and after the arabs who work with westerners.

The attacks on the UN, Red Cross, Italians, that is about going after US allies to isolate the US in Iraq.

But by turning on fellow arabs, Al Queda terrorists are turning on their own 'recruiting ground'. This is ultimately what we want to see, other than Al Quaeda just up and dying out - the terrorists defeating themselves by killing other Muslims/Arabs, thereby angering the Arab world and compelling the rest of them to destroy Al Quaeda.

We've been complaining since 9/11 about saudis not going after Al Quaeda. This and the may bombing is IMHO proof that the gloves are off on both sides. Saudis will now do everything to destroy this organization. It's a battle to the death between Al Quaeda and the Saudi regime.

Yes. You got the same arrogant from the UN weenies - "why are they bombing us? We are not the warmongers like the US?" as if US soldiers, Jews or "infidels" *deserve* terrorist attacks.

Who knows, maybe the're starting to take their heads out of their a$$.....es, errr...... the sand, and see things for what they really are. Maybe too much to hope for.

Impossible to miss the inadvertant revelation of what a Saudi thinks is an acceptable victim of "extremists".

I wish I could say "may they enjoy many more examples of the fruits of their labor",and wish for it, but I am not quite as barbaric as these people seem to be.

Education could cure that.It remains to be seen if they will actively resist learning.

On the internet as long as 5 years ago, some jihadis were talking, and they wanted to kill King Fhad of Saudi Arabia and the King of Jordan, so I am just surprised that the attacks have not come sooner.

We need not vilify those who are beginning to see the scope of this quasi-Islamic evil.

We need to encourage them to "See" without "Islamic" blinders.

We need "arabs" who understand the danger to their own society to "Wake Up!"

"The West" will not utterly destroy radical islamic terrorism; ultimately, "Islam" MUST "Police Itself."

If Islam cannot eradicate Those who Hate in It's Name, then "The West" MUST UTTERLY ANNIHILATE "ISLAM!!"

The Math is simple.

IF Those who believe in the religion of "Islam" CANNOT CONTROL the PSYCHOPATHS who USE the "Religion" to justify atrocities, then an "Outside Force" MUST DESTROY the source of the philosophical justification for murder.

"Islam" MUST eradicate it's psychotic, homicidal elements, or "Islam Itself" will become a "Target for destruction."

Make No Mistake; Christians & Jews are getting impatient--too many Innocents have died--"Islam" is "on the Clock."

FEW in the West would "mourn the passing" of "Islam!"

For further on this holier-than-thou attitude have a look at Cal Thomas ,The Middle East Concept of Freedom @ Townhall.com. It's time this nasty aspect of Arabs view of Westerners got some exposure.
