"since the service members are paid wages"

Excellent point sir...'cause me thinks that just about settles it (whether the Supremes said it or not).

Contempt of court does not make you freee..

"Freedom is a state of mind"
-freee-

Exactly.. Your anti-constitutional 'state of mind' is becoming the issue.

Im sorry, but I just don't see military conscription as being the first step on the slippery slope to socialist domination.

Half of the remaining of your life working to pay taxes.

You're slight wrong. It should read: The rest of your remaining life paying taxes for everyone else.

That is because you are not currenting subject to selective service, if you were, your views on the subject would change very quickly.

I would agree except we have the option of homeschooling. Take that away then me and Freee will be side by side fightin' the Massa.

That's because they remind me of every leftist who bitches about military action that any Republican president orders, and is all gaga over Clintigula's military missions (expanding the Somalia mission, Bosnia, Kosovo, etc.

I'm opposed to all of it.

If it doesn't involve directly defending my own country I won't participate. I don't care whose idea it is, R or D, makes no difference to me.

If we're invaded, I'm going to try to kill the invaders myself. You won't need to draft me. At that point I would see the military as an asset, an ally.

But once you're in you go where they say and do what they say no questions asked. Given our government's track record and desire to be 'global policeman', they haven't earned that trust.

If we had a foreign policy closer to Switzerland, I wouldn't be so opposed.

Well, that's just not realistic. Nice ideal, but not grounded in reality.

You're saying your views would not change when you have not even faced that situation yet.

You have no damn idea what I have and have not faced in life. Unless you have proof otherwise, pretend to be a man and apologize.

And the rightful place for that instruction is the 13-plus years of government schooling that our tax dollars currently and relentlessly pay for.

"Compulsary, public service indoctrination" is simply the other end of "Mandatory, tax-funded pre-school."

Cradle-to-grave, thumb-sucking nanny government.
149 -doc-

Why not get rid of the 13 years, and give citizens a 'real' education in one?
What's your real objection doc? You anti-military? Anti- constitutional?

How many of your 18-year-old sons are you offering to "community service" for two years, at the discretion of strangers who would yank them out of college and put them in government-run social programs?

They want to pick and choose whether or not they'll deign to serve their country.

Do YOU agree with every USA military action? Would YOU feel honored by compulsary service in (say) Clinton's expanded actions in Somolia? or would you say "now wait a minute...why must I face jail if I believe that has nothing to do with national security despite what the Dems call it?" Can you conceive of conscription into ANY past, present or reasonably possible future military action undertaken based on dishonorable motivations?

Just because *I* don't agree with it doesn't mean that I get to pick and choose. This isn't a freelance thing, you know.

Your anti-constitutional 'state of mind'

I support our Constitution. It says no slavery, its SCOTUS that once again doesn't respect it.

BTW, you usually come out on the side of freedom. I'm surprised seeing you pro-draft. Why is that?
