Nathan,
I agree, it is very discouraging. I have to question what devout Catholics are doing with children in the hostile government school system anyway.

You ask "Where can I go in my own land?" Check out www.freestateproject.org, a group dedicated to liberty in our lifetime. One of the longterm goals of members is to phase out government education and return it to the private sector where it belongs!

i think a lot of this depends on where you are in this country. i live in the ultra-PC DC suburbs. my kids will NEVER attend public school in this area. they are in Catholic school for that very reason. However, i have nieces in Ohio and one in upstate NY and it is much more like when i was in public school in the late 60s and early 70s there. The NYC schools, discussed here, are going to be just like DC, if not worse.
