Felicia McCray's daughter came home last year from Carstens Elementary School on Detroit's east side with a new burgundy coat.

Kayja, now 9, also showed her mother her new hat, gloves, shoes, uniform, hair accessories and a voucher to Payless ShoeSource to get another pair of shoes.

I golf in an anual outing each year that benifits the Gleaners Food Bank, good charity. If I wasn't taxed so greatly I would do even more for charity.

Most of this article is about just that, charity. That's a good thing. Help needs to be coming more from the private sector than from our pockets when it's done so unwillingly (in other words, the government.)
