If the shocking pix are indeed of Jessica, no media outlet in the United States would dare publish them. Not only would it be “politically incorrect” to embarrass the young soldier – lionized on the covers of NEWSWEEK and PEOPLE magazine as a “hero” – but the backlash from an angered public would be swift and severe.
The French and Germans, however, might not have as many compunctions about “feminist fallout.” It’s conceivable that somewhere down the road, the naughty pix might turn up in the pages of PARIS-MATCH or DER SPIEGEL. With tensions high between the U.S. and its onetime close allies over the war in Iraq, it would be indeed ironic if such photographs first appeared in France and Germany
