Kamal Mohammed Hussein Idris, a Palestinian terrorist, from the West Bank city of Hebron, involved in numerous shooting and bomb attacks against Israeli citizens was transferred from the West Bank to the Gaza Strip on Monday.

Idris was given 48 hours to appeal the decision which was signed by OC Central Command Maj.Gen. Moshe Kaplinsky. He was transferred to the Erez crossing detention facility where he will be held until the outcome of the appeal is heard.

Last month Israel expelled 15 Palestinian administrative detainees to the Gaza Strip.

IDF officials described the step as a deterrent measure aimed at preventing the accused from resuming terrorist activities when released and also took into account the fact that Idris could not be tried in court for fear of revealing intelligence sources that led to his arrest.

Idris will be banished for two years but according to officials, if necessary, the order can be extended in the future.
