Pundits are reading entirely too much into this. It was at most a skirmish in the culture wars. If the movie had not been filled with actionable slanders, conservatives would not have been able to chase them off the air.

But to see liberals squirming in frustration and shame is certainly enjoyable.

I agree. I'd love to see a respectful treatment of Reagan's experience in the Screen Actor's Guild, for example--but where are you gonna get the expertise to make it? The experts are pretty much dead set against giving Reagan an even break, let alone a favorable hearing.
