I am not a biblical scholar so I cannot presume the context these refer to.

But I don't know that we have moved well beyond this as Christians.

Islam has not advanced in any human or Godly endeavors nor has its practitioners.

Christianity has always been anti-slavery.

Of course ending slavery was not the top priority of the early Christians, nor should it have been.
