My father spent some time designing futuristic anti-tank weapons. He used to say that he thought that in the future, the place not to be was in a tank. He's probably right. But if you do have to take a hit or near hit from such fiendish devices, the vehicle to be in at the time remains the big fella.

Actually, in point of fact, anywhere on the modern battlefield is no place to be, at least not in a fight against someone one your own technological level. This fact no doubt goes a long way towards making suicide bombing acceptable to the mind, since for a simple soldier going onto the modern battlefield against a higher tech opponent, just showing up is often tantamount to suicide. If you're surely gonna die, what's the difference?
