While everything you posted is true, it doesn't mean for sure that Mr. Schindler knew the difference between them. Lots of people don't know that there's a big difference between them, and commonly refer to counselors as psychologists or psychiatrists without ever distinguishing the differences. Sort of like when people talk about eye doctors, it could be an opthalmologist, optometrist, or an optician. I don't think we can rely on the accuracy of his statement, but can only use it as a guide for finding this person. The reporter could have even misspelled Caplan. I saw an earlier report where the reporter used Richard Pierce as the GAL's name instead of Richard Pearse.

It could have been a psychologist that was connected to the hospice Terri was in.
Either someone recomended this person or he picked them out of the yellow pages.
Another possibility, a friend of mine is an R.N. and her speciality is psychology.
My guess would be that this psychologist was somehow connected to the hospice that Terri was in at the time.
