Sitting in my tree stand the other evening....Heard a gob of turkey's up the creek from me...purring, clucking, and some even gobbling..!! Then I heard some leaves rustling up on a rock ridge behind me some 50-60 yards...I look up there, and I see 4-7 tom's pacing the edge acting like they are wanting down. One finally takes off and lands in the tree next to me, to roost.....and he goes to calling his buddies...to "come on down"..!!
Then I hear some turkey's down the creek coming right to me....they cut the distance in half...but then I hear the Tom next to drop down a limb or two..and he must have seen my fletchings on my arrows...or something..because he start's to plucking and the turkey's coming my way get nervous and stop. Well the Tom decides to fly to another tree to roost...And then the turkey's coming my way....keep on a coming.
There's about 20 of them....two adult hens, and the rest spring hatch. I let the lead adult go by me...at about 15-20 yards...and the last turkey is the other adult hen. She's trailing the group by about 15 yards or so...she goes behind a tree...I pulled and let my arrow fly...and nailed her. She didn't go anywhere's. Fresh turkey..!!! YEE HAAA! Was an awesome hunt....even though I was deer hunting...!! Ha!!
