I always joke a bit about the fact that the British monarchy are a bunch of Germans (remember Phillip, sometimes considered a Greek, is a Mountbatten, another German family -- von Battenburg -- than changed its name during WWI. -- Prince Louis of Battenburg was First Lord of the Admiralty in 1914, until he was replaced because it didn't seem right to have a German in the job!), but that's what they are. Not much English or even Scots blood. The last English monarch I could unreservedly support was Queen Anne, except her agreeing to the Hanoverian succession.
