It took a government study to figure out that single women are more likely to have abortions than married women? I wonder how much it cost us taxpayers to find out this shocking truth?

The real shocking truth about single women and abortions is the underlying cause for their pregnancies and subsequent decision to abort.
You'll have to trust me when I say I have some knowledge of the subject.
The reason for the pregnancies is not that they don't have enough contreception information. Most of them have prescriptions for birth control pills--but they fail to use them for several reasons:
1. They don't have sex regularly and therefore don't take their birth control pills regularly. A CDC study found that most unmarried young women who don't have permanent sexual partners engage in sex less than once every six months. This leads to laziness about taking the pill and when Mr. Right comes along they aren't prepared or protected.
2. They make the decision not to take the pill for financial reasons. Since they are often low-wage earners, if their sexual habits don't make the pill a good financial investment (compared to the necessitiesy of cosmetics, pantyhose, etc) they simply don't buy the pill.
3. Even in the era of Aids, there is still a sense of shame in many young women about carrying around condoms or diaphragms on the off chance they may meet Mr. Right and have a sexual encounter.
There you have it: Unpreparedness, shame and finances.
