Lynch's convoy wasn't sent into battle. She was a member of a supply company, and they were never intended to "do battle."

I have my own idea of why the pumped up story of Lynch came about. I believe it was to divert attention from the fact that a too-long supply convoy was strung out over the desert with little-to-no protection and this happened in the first place. Had eyes turned on that subject, some brass would have been spun out of the Army and rightly so.

Jessica is in a position now to where she may as well make a buck off of the ordeal. She's going to be paying physically for the trip to hell for the rest of her life. I do believe her own behavior and that of her family has left a sour taste in a lot of folks mouths, however. She did herself no favors.

I'm so tired of the armchair quarterbacks here on FreeRepublic second guessing what families should and should not do when the media spotlight is shining on them. From this to Elizabeth Smart. People do what they think is the right thing to do. Maybe when they look back on things, they would do them differently. God help any of you if you find yourself in a similar position.

I agree. An article posted on Drudge mentioned that her book reports that not only was she raped, but she has lost bowel and bladder control due to the spinal injury. (I suspected as much when the first vague reports about her extensive rehabilitation came out -- now it is confirmed by Jessica herself.)

This is a very difficult disability to live with. I hope the money she gets will help her pay for whatever experimental treatments she may want to try, that insurance won't pay for.
