Do you know who your entertainment dollars are supporting? I'd feel badly if one of you took your kiddos to see the cute movie "Elf" and discovered you were supporting the platform from which Ed Assner attacks America...It's your money folks, I'm just spreading the word...You may want to let your relatives and friends know as well. Have you noticed how these movies are playing down the appearances of certain actors?

Cat in the Hat?
My 3-year-old won't be happy.
To: jonalvy44
I have only gone to one movie in a long, long time mainly because most movies are trash and choosing not to support the Hollywood crowd.
Would you mind turning your question around and stating those movies not to boycott?
To: Loyal Buckeye
I have to ask: What was the one movie?
To: jonalvy44
I listened to the NPR review of ELF. He was completely positive so I assumed it was crap.

You should see the previews -- Cat in the Hat in *NOT* a child's movie. Just like the Grinch with Jim Carey wasn't.
I'd skip it and read 'em the book.

You see, this is why my favorite actor is Godzilla. You never hear the Big G bad talking the USA.

oh this is much easier...only a few to boycott.
check out
http://www.comingsoon.net and look at November release dates...lots of movies to see. I'm looking forward to Timeline, a time travel flick, I enjoyed the book.

Seeing as I'm in the Boston area, I was duped into seeing Mystic River the other night....had NO clue that the twin traitors were co-stars (Traitor Robbins and Grand Master Traitor Penn). Also got to hear their REALLY bad Boston accents....way too forced.
To: Constitution Day
It's your call...I just report the details. You probably weren't aware Baldwin was in this movie...As many aren't. Does he deserve your money?
To: jonalvy44
Likewise. I'm also looking forward to Haunted Mansion because I enjoyed Pirates of the Caribbean...

Also got to hear their REALLY bad Boston accents....way too forced. Agree with that. Very overrated movie in general IMO.

I enjoyed the book for Timeline, but the information I've heard about the movie has been pretty bad. I'm not sure where I heard the criticism, but it was probably from someone that watched an advanced screening and posted a review at Ain't It Cool's site.

LMAO! That's one
big hat, too.
On an unrelated note, I was just reading James Lileks' Daily Bleat for Friday.
The subject today is the new Matrix Revolutions movie.
The column is worth reading, but my favorite quip is about Matrix 2/Reloaded:
"Sure, it had a certain buzz, but so does a beached flyblown whale carcass."

Timeline...from the Michael Crichton book? But Crichton is an unabashed lib. So why are you going to his movie? Are there degrees of "offensiveness" you accept? Please explain.
You regularly exhort Freepers not to go to movies--even if our kids have been waiting months or years to see something--and your choices seem arbitrary...arbitrary in that, THERE IS NOT ONE MAJOR STUDIO MOVIE MADE THAT DOES NOT HAVE ONE OR MORE LIBERALS IN SIGNIFICANT ROLES IN IT, EITHER IN FRONT OF OR BEHIND THE CAMERA. Why don't you simply declare: Hey, let's none of us ever go to a movie again.
