Positives from feminism: women are much better educated today (equivalently with men) and more economically successful. For many in my generation, despite early disruptions in our lives, we eventually formed strong, lasting partnerships or marriages-- and the earning power of women provides an important family safety net even if she chooses not to work. I think the second generation will do even better-- avoiding most of the negatives (broken relationships) and start from the outset with strong marriages. Young men and women and teens also seem to form strong friendships with one another, something that didn't happen too much when I was that age-- it was mostly the case that if someone of the opposite sex wasn't a romantic prospect, then there was no real relationship.
Better educated mothers means mothers that value education for their children, and economic flexibility means that families can swap off child-rearing, which often means that children get to spend much more time with Dad than they otherwise would have.
Anyway, there is no reason that divorce NEEDS to be correlated with high education for women, or with wives and mothers in the work-place. I think this next generation will do much better in that regard than mine did, as they have sufferred too much the ill effects of divorce. I'm very hopeful for them!
