One of the tugs took refuge in Wilmington, NC from the heavy storm that strung the fleet out during the passage south. Another overshot Charleston and ended up in Savannah. Additionally, I see where the Star of the West scrapped her bottom on the Charleston bar several times as she fled from the harbor in early January. I wonder what would have happened if she had gotten stuck on the bar.
