-frightening. I have had doctors recommend drugs for things other then their original purpose. Glad I declined to take drugs I felt I didn't need.

FDA propaganda - off label use is usually safe, especially since the physician knows how the drugs work at all levels from the molecular to the organ. This "news piece" talked about a few isolated cases where something went wrong. Trust me, believe your doc.
