I'm not really sure how it would work.

It seems to me that if you explode a force on top of the volcano. It's not likely to have any effect. The force would end up being primarily directed into the air.

I doubt there would be any significant downward force excerted. And even if there was, would the volcano rebound?

It seems to me that to get it to erupt you'd have to set a nuke off down inside of it. Deep down in the magma. That's not technically feasible.

Although I always thought the US should come up with some weapons that could be launched at sea and drill their way underneath enemy cities. And then just wait there for the signal, in case we ever need them. Put one of these under ever major city of any country that is a threat and you can respond in the blink of an eye. No antimissle system could stop you.
