Brutally murdered and brutally raped also sends me into a spin. How about when they use the word "savagely" raped/murdered.

But apparently, you can murder someone without actually hating them, as we have been taught by hate crime legislation. I'll rest easier in my grave, knowing that the person who murdered me didn't actually HATE me...
