Or maybe he told them "the lights were off when I was here returning my boat this afternoon, and they're still off." And then maybe he indicated that he knew what the fax said, and maybe they said, "Oh? How were you able to read it with the lights off, when there are no windows in there?" Good one. Didn't he tell the cops that there was no electricity in there, when they wanted to look around? Maybe him knowing what the fax said proves that there had been electricity the last time he'd been there. He may have said that it had been off for a while.

Right. And after seeing the pictures tonight of an identical warehouse's interior, it appears that there were no windows, even in the "office" part. So he'd need the lights on, or a flashlight, to read the fax. I doubt he carries a flashlight on his belt like a policeman.
Greta VS showed some pics she took of the warehouse unit next to Scott's. It's the same set-up. This was the business warehouse.
