Your brain isn't missing a thing! Scott's story is that he left home 9:30 a.m., went to his warehouse, did a little work, loaded up the boat and headed for Berkeley, arriving about noon (a 90-mile drive, of course), fished, then got out of the water and drove back home, arriving about 4:30 p.m. And that he then hung around the house, calling around to find Laci, that he called Sharon about 5:00, saying Laci was missing, and after that... police, neighbors, family--no time for a trip to the warehouse after that.

If his story is true, he couldn't have seen the fax around the time it came in.

...then got out of the water and drove back home, arriving about 4:30 p.m.

But the boat was put away. He didn't return to the house with the boat. So he must have gone to the warehouse to store it, right? Thus his lying story would still work for him in this tiny respect -- he could have seen the fax while putting away his boat. Or was that a different warehouse?
