I heard that, too. And there were children's books (where did those come from?) in the same bag, left in the bushes next to a child care center (!?!) for Amber to retrieve.

I heard that, too, and it makes sense with what is known about Snott. Why waste expensive jewelry on Amber when she'd be as likely to be happy with costume stuff. Snott would want to eventually pawn the expensive stuff and use the money for himself IMO.
