In addition to potential harm to the female soldiers and society in general, there is also the detrimental affect upon the cohesiveness and morale of male soldiers. How many times have procedures not been followed by men because of concern for women in their ranks during firefights, etc.? The urge to protect women is BIOLOGICAL for *%#*^*$* sake! When pandering to their voter base, nothing outweighs the need for votes. And besides, women can do anything men can do; NOW said so. If this episode were gingerly handled, it could come around and bite the Dims in their emasculated tushes. Fat chance it would get any legs. It is cases like Lynch's that make me vow never to allow my daughter to join the military. I know that seems sexist, but as her mother I believe that the military will not protect her... it is MY job to protect her from the nightmares that she in her innocence could never imagine. I will raise my daughter so that she knows I will NEVER agree to her serving in the military. End of discussion.

When the women who serve are not poor white and black women from the rural south, or the inner city, but middle-class women who are drafted. Once liberal well-off girls between 18 and 25 are forced to serve, and forced to pretend to be soldiers, will the dimwits learn. Once they find out that their role during the conflict is not one holding anti-war placards on campus, or burning American flags next to Palestinians, but holding a rifle and conditioning themselves to kill the enemy.

THEN they will finally get over the politics and let men do the fighting.
