Wonder what they would do if the shirts said "Praise Allah"?

I have to agree with this. If they want a picture taken like that, let them do it themselves. If it was a group of Muslims or Buddhists etc... doing this, would christian families really like receiving their kid's school class picture with "ALLAH LOVES YOU" or "BUDDHA LOVES ALL" across the front? Somehow I doubt it.
I say, let them have a "Club Photo" in the yearbook or whatever, and if they do it with the shirts, that's fine. Doing it in the senior class photo is not the time or place.

Not surprising anyone, when Assistant Superintendent Carol Osbrink said: "The distinction is the students who were lined up in a row were proselytizing or preaching", she demonstrated in no uncertain terms that she, herself, is a religious bigot who seeks to impose her beliefs about religious practices and methods on everyone else. It's her way or the highway.
That might be the way her own religion goes about proselytizing, but for these kids it was undoubtedly the way they wear t-shirts.
It's time for the bigots to move on and get over it.

Its refreshing to see school kids standing up for values and principle, even challenging the ruling bureaucrats.
From my own experience, if you teach your kid convservative values and show them the pandering leftist adgenda of the educator bureaucrats while they are young, by the time they are 15 or 16, they will be solid in their beliefs and not afraid to be "different" from the sheep.

If the shirts had said that an they were prevented from having the picture taken the following would have happened:(1) The ACLU would have filed a lawsuit within 10 mins (2) The entire democrat 9 would have condemed the action (3) There would have been riots in at least 13 countries over the insult to allah.

Wouldn't it be great if the next sign of teens rebelling against their parents would be that they start espousing conservative values to their liberal mom and dads?

The quickest and probably the only way to turn this matter into a successful and lucrative lawsuit is to capitalize on the large number of Hispanics whose mothers have named their sons after Him.
Yea, verily -- a civil rights lawsuit just waiting to happen........ 8~)

"What if it was the Communists or the young Nazis?"
This journalism/English teacher doesn't miss a step. Comparing Jesus to communists and nazis. What a jackass. This whole situation is absurd.

PahLEEZE give me a break. I am so sick of hearing about flippen allah and at the karan. This is not the ME and we have no virgins! Of course we aren't. But we ARE a nation made up of more than just one religion - see our constitution for guidance if you have any questions.
There is nothing wrong with showing love to God as we are one nation under god!
I don't disagree. THere is no problem with that. However, would you also defend the right of others to wear t-shirts that spelled out "KILL THE UNBORN" in your kid's class group photo? I sure a heck wouldn't. The problem is not that they are showing a love of God, the problem is that it opens the door for everyone else to do the same, so I will stand by my belief that class group photos are no place for this kind of thing...
Just because we have the right to express ourselves, doesn't mean that common sense goes out the window.
when we are one nation under allah then they can take a picture until then F off!
Real nice. Do you talk to your pastor with that mouth? Grow up.

There's universe of diference between "liking" something, and attempting to bring the massive federal gov't in to stop what you don't like under threat of violence.

I don't advocate government interference, and I just wish that people were at least sensible enough to know when and where the public forums really are. I don't think that a Senior Class photo is a "public free speech forum" where half the kids can spread their religious and political views with impunity, whether the other kids agree or not - no matter what the "cause". But maybe that's just me. :0)

Personally, I don't care what kids wear in their class picture. The school should have just gone ahead and let the kids be in the photo.
However, another solution for the school would have been to arrange the kids alphabetically, you know, to make it easier to caption the photo. That would have changed things around a bit, I suppose.
This is a nonsense decision on the part of the school.
That said, in my high school, back in 1963, our graduation class photo was shot with the requirement that boys wear ties and girls wear dresses. Nice photo, as it turned out. Maybe that's the answer, really.

Wonder what they would do if the shirts said "Praise Allah"? My guess is that it wouldn't be considered 'religious' but 'cultrual'. Che' shirts would probably have been acceptable.

They would have been given diversity awards and automatically recieved scholarships to Harvard, Columbia, Duke, and many other liberal bastions of (non)learning.
