I can understand why some people might write a living will that would protect their own right to die, if that is their wish, though I can hardly believe they would find it painless or peaceful...but I truly do not understand those who call for the death of Terri Schiavo.

Life is too precious to be adjudicated away. The interaction between Terri and her family IS meaningful, and thus her life has meaning regardless of her disability. If there was no one to care for her, kiss her, touch her - then she would still be alive but her life would have less meaning, because the interaction with others would be missing. She would truly be locked inside a shell, with nobody trying to enter her world.

But Terri is blessed because her family is ready and willing to accept her as she is; they are willing to love her unconditionally despite her disability. They are willing to enter her world, and she does resond to them!
I would say that Michael is NOT willing to love her despite her disability, and he does not wish to enter her world, nor is he capable of doing so.

I think in any case where guardianship is contested, and there is no living will, guardianship should go to the person who is willing to care for the disabled person with the goal of rehabilitation. It should never go to the person with any financial benefit in death, or someone who, like Michael, callously inflicts emotional torture on other family members by insisting on death as an expression of the patient's wishes, when there is no living will.

Why does Michael deny Terri's family the comfort of caring for their own flesh and blood, when Michael himself insists she died 13 years ago? His concept of "caring for Terri" is dehydrating and starving her to death - torturing her and her family!

How can such people live with making the killing of a living human their stated mission in life? How can ANYONE defend someone like Michael Schiavo or George Felos? Everything they do is the epitome of heartless cruelty and selfishness. There is NO LOVE for God or Life in their hearts!
