Durbin was on the Senate floor this am, saying he had never seen/read the memo, but it did reflect the 'frustration' of the 'committee' with the WH.

Frustration or not .. The Intell Committee is NOT the place to score political points.

The Select Intell Committee is suppose to put their party aside

However according to THEIR memo they think differently..

"SUMMARY: Intelligence issues are clearly secondary to the public's concern regarding the insurgency in Iraq.

The Senate Select Intelligence Committee became an issue during the second "power sharing" debate in 2002 after the Republicans re-retook the Senate. Roberts was decrying the Democrats attempt to politicize the committee (he said that they had traditionally been non-partisan but Democrats wanted separate staffs and budgets now).

So, now this. It looks like they were playing the Chairman for a chump all along. And, it also looks like Roberts is more interested in maintaining his fantasy of bi-partisanship on the Intelligence committee than in believing what his own eyes are telling him.

Oh, and notice how the dems turn the tables so easily. This memo must have been obtained illegally. They will hunt out the whistle blower and hang him from the highest tree for the whole world to see and the story will be about the GOP "Operative" who obtained a document from the SIC illegally. You watch.

Sure! Like they did the one who leaked Rumsfeld's memo?

Roberts is too stupid.

Roberts may be naive and idealistic, but he's not stupid. He probably thought that he was going to be the one Republican to get along well with his "friends" the Democrats; that he would be one committee chairman to "get things done in a bi-partisan manner". Give him time, the scales are only beginning to fall from his eyes.

I think today's comments by Pat on Hannity's radio show that he is covering for his dem buddies. For some reason he is allowing himself to be a useful idiot for Tom Daschle. I think he should be calling for an internal or FBI investigation into this issue. Lets get the Feds involved and take the Dem's computers and determine if any were used for other than official use. Nail them to the wall before they carry out their smear campain. Put them on the defensive and out of position to attack. Perhaps we need to flood the Justice Dept with calls for an investigation.

I agree, I watch Roberts on TV and wonder whose side this idiot is on. Frist needs to replace him and fast. And while he's at it, get rid of Hatch over on judicial, he talks the talk but won't walk the walk.

Here is the number for the US Capitol......you can ask for any elected official.........1-877-762-8762

We need to call Senator Pat Roberts too, tell him he’s being used as a dupe for the ‘Rats. Time to grow a spine and tell the ‘Rats to take a leap.

I get so tired of these guys wanting an "independant commission" every time they want to cover up their own laziness on oversight. Why are we paying $160,000/yr to people who will not take thier responsibilities seriously? Are they banking on the idea that the electorate is so dumbed down that we don't know that they knew everything the White House knew? Bob Graham was, but his gripes seemed completely bogus to me. On "Hardball" the other night Dick Gephart said that he met with George Tenet three times in deciding how to vote. At least, he is honest about his access to intelligence.
