No one complained although the cartoon eventually got to all 1200 employees.

The "investigation" is internal in the IT department.

Two Monterey County workers disciplined for racist e-mail

Salinas - Two Monterey County workers have been disciplined for sending a racially disparaging cartoon about Mexican immigrants on the county's e-mail system.

However, county officials said yesterday that confidentiality rules mean they can't reveal the workers' names or their punishment.

One worker appealed and had a hearing yesterday.

The November third e-mail was distributed to about 32-hundred county employee computers.

The e-mail featured a bogus "Mexifornia" driver's license, belonging to a sombrero-wearing bandit, and contained disparaging personal information about the "driver."
