I just watched Sen. Roberts (R) on Hannity & Colms and I must say that if that guy wasn't running defense for the democrats on his committee (who apparently authored the treasonous memo) then I am losing my mind.it was a truly disappointing performance, wasn't it. which is a great argument for term limits -- so that they don't all become each other's bugger brothers. there was a time, now long lamented, when a senator in roberts's position would show up in congress tomorrow with a cane, which he would use to beat the living hell out of rockefeller. oh, to mourn for the bygone day!

The Senate Select Intelligence Committee became an issue during the second "power sharing" debate in 2002 after the Republicans re-retook the Senate. Roberts was decrying the Democrats attempt to politicize the committee (he said that they had traditionally been non-partisan but Democrats wanted separate staffs and budgets now).
So, now this. It looks like they were playing the Chairman for a chump all along. And, it also looks like Roberts is more interested in maintaining his fantasy of bi-partisanship on the Intelligence committee than in believing what his own eyes are telling him.
