Anyone who thinks that Roberts is going to be stupid enough to express outrage at this stage is a nut.

Even the Dems know Roberts is stupid. They essentially say as much in their own memo:

"The fact that the chairman supports our investigations into these offices and cosigns our requests for information is helpful and potentially crucial."

Gee, the REPUBLICAN Chairman is actively supporting DEMOCRAT investigations into the REPUBLICAN Adminstration. That is not stupid?

Were you born Tuesday?

When there are legitimate questions regarding intelligence matters, how would it look for the committee chairman to NOT allow investigations to proceed? You missed the entire point. Democrats DONT want to investigate anything. What they want is to create a public demand for an INDEPENDENT investigation, which will create public doubt about Bush, because of how the Media will spin it.

The creation of an Independent Investigation is as good as an admission of guilt in the eyes of the media. Internal investigations can be dismissed as politically motivated attacks. That is why the Democrats are doing this. Roberts is NOT stupid. If he did not cooperate, he would give the Democrats ammunition for suggesting that there should be an independent counsel. Get it?
