Is anyone listening to Hannity? He just read a memo from a dem party staffer (i think) on the select committe on intelligence (or some such), which, as he describes it, shows the the dem committe members are pre-planning a political assault on the pres. and care nothing for our security, which is their job.
He's acting like this is the hottest scoop since I don't know what, I'm at work so I'm only 1/2 listening, plus he read the whole thing which seemed to be a least 2 pages long, a little tough to follow being in beaurocrat-speak.
Is this really important? And will this story grow legs?

SUMMARY: Intelligence issues are clearly secondary to the public's Democrats concern regarding the insurgency in Iraq.
To: retrokitten
From the memo:
We will identify the most exaggerated claims. We will contrast them with the intelligence estimates that have since been declassified.OMG, can you see the implications here? They're planning on declassifying info to forward their agenda. What if the info is better off remaining classified? It's NOT going to matter is it? They're going to get around the law by declassifying, so they can legally leak. And national security bedamned.

Democrats Don't Resign Except Robert Torricelli (from running), and even then, it's Machiavellian.

And national security bedamned. Yep. It's pretty disgusting.

>>If someone has to resign because of this please let it be Dick Dirtbag of Illinois.
Why? So Blogo can appoint one of Daley's boys?

who made the case for unilateral preemptive war they actually said unilateral? It sounds like the Demo staffers are Guardianistas or agents of France.

Are you telling me that Dem chairmen were this cooperative with the opposition when the Dems were running Congress? If so, your memory is much different than mine.

My vote goes for the commie Michiganian, Levin. Wasn't there another thread talking about Levin's intentions along these lines? I'll look.
To: mewzilla
Yup. What they are saying is that they will take classified info and essentially declassify it by focusing on already available info. Something like, "We know this is bogus but we can't say why."
The intent alone should be illegal. At least I think it should be.

Who does the declassifying of this info? I think it is the Executive branch not the committee..... They state that has already been declassified. ....[We will contrast them with the intelligence estimates that have since been declassified.]

"The approach outlined above seems to offer the best prospect for exposing the administration's dubious motives." Do you think the Demo staffers will investigate their own party's support for Clinton's Iraq LIberation Act in 1998?
I don't think so...

This is called CYA. I imagine the squealing will be rather loud...

It's not just disgusting, it's dangerous. It is so dangerous.

I was kind of hoping that the previous memo would now be picked up by Sean and Newsmax, and other conservative pundits who weren't covering the press's misreporting of the war when the original memo came out.
Miracles happen. *g*
