Congress to approve $2.22 billion for Israel
By JPOST.COM STAFF

Israel is to receive $2.22 billion in military assistance in 2005, $60 million more than in 2004 pending Congress' approval.

A 1990s agreement reduces economic assistance to Israel by $120 million a year while adding $60 million a year to the military component of the package.

The US State Department issued a statement, reaffirming President Bush's commitment to Israel's security.

A 1990s agreement reduces economic assistance to Israel by $120 million a year while adding $60 million a year to the military component of the package.

Meaning Israel gets a net $60 million less this year in total aid while actively fighting in the war on terror.

While I admit that I am a supporter of Bush & Israel, I do have to say where does the Bush Administration think they're going to get all this money they're promising to all these countries. I love the tax break we got this year and I'd like to keep it, so please Prez quit promising all this money to every Tom, Dick & Israel.

Lots of noise about the money that Israel is supposed TO BE receiving and no word about the second largest recipient for US $ support per capita - Georgia - and today there's a lot to tell.

President George Herbert Walker Bush, as in the first President Bush, promised this money and made this commitment. If you notice the amount goes DOWN each year.

The U.S. investment in Israel is returned many times over in the form of everything from intelligence to the only reliable ally in the Middle East.

Meaning that israel gets 2,200 millions of our tax dollars without the poeple's consent. This is classical tyranny.

You win the idiotic statement of the day award. Most recent polls show American support for Israel in the 75-85% range. How is that without consent?

Israel is to receive $2.22 billion in military assistance in 2005

And how much of that actually leaves the USA?

Military Industrial Complex, 'natch. $2 billion "to" Egypt, then another 2 "to" Israel to stay ahead of Egypt, on and on and on...

Don't forget Iraq. At the rate we're spending money there, Israel probably won't catch up until the 22nd century, if ever.

And of course, let's not forget the importance of spending $15 billion to fight AIDS in Africa, which will no doubt eradicate the disease there once and for all. Why not spend $17.22 billion, just to make sure?

And of course, all of these outlays steal money from the $1.2 trillion "needy" Americans are "entitled" to receive from the pockets of  "wealthy" Americans. It's such an outrage that America's poor are being forced to send money to foreign Jews, who no doubt drive expensive cars and wave their diamond rings under the noses of the Palestinians they so relentlessly oppress, all while driving up the federal taxes of us Americans by a crushing 1/10 of 1% that we would certainly never spend on anything else instead.

Yep, all that money we're sending to Israel is the problem.

I'm glad that he kept his promise, but I for one am tired of funding all these other countries. Yes Israel is a true ally and yes they will contribute to our cause, but their still taking our damn money. I don't mind so much giving Israel money as I do say Africa, Egypt, North Korea (yes I know we're putting N.K. on notice, but I gurantee in the end we'll give them money as well) Turkey, etc....in alot of these countries the people all hate us and would just assume nuke us if they had the capability as look at us.

Yes this is true, but at least with Iraq we blew up their stuff so we're kind of obligated by the rules of war to fix the infrastructure. However I believe that 1/2 should of been a damn loan! They're going to have plent of money from oil and they should pay us back in my opinion, but then again none of the other countries ever do which is exactly why we need to stop giving them the money to begin with.

This is strictly something to appease Black Americans in my opinion, what the Black Americans fail to understand is that they're Americans same as me, they're not Africans or African Americans yet they seem to want to seperate theirselves at every opportunity instead of coming together as simply Americans. Now I understand all blacks aren't like that, but the ones that scream the loudest about the problem in Africa are.

I agree with you part way. Most of our granted monies to Israel other than military are in the form of loan guarantees which Israel has always paid back.

As to the military monies, Israel is allocated their sums as are most other countries from one big pot. However, if you read what's been in the news lately, we have been working jointly with the IDF and their technology companies to develope together the better Patriot Missile Batteries as well as this new laser system among other projects.

I don't remember what the Egyptians, Saudis, Koreans or most other "Friendly" countries have done for us lately!
