Republican vote challengers will be present at 18 precincts in predominantly black areas in Jefferson County today after a judge yesterday refused to block the local Republican Party's plan to station them there.

Jefferson Circuit Judge Thomas Wine said he couldn't grant a restraining order based only on the fear that someone's right to vote would be abridged.

Actually, did KY ever exclude blacks from the voter rolls? Weren't blacks voting in KY as early as the 1920s?

This thing has become so misreported. The fact is that it was the KY Democrats who wrote the "challenger" laws years ago. Now, their own tactics are coming back to haunt them.

It is perfectly lawful to challenge a potential voter's credentials. It protects the integrity of the election.
But, that is the last thing Democrats are interested in.

Because its Louisville, and its Democrats. I moved away from there in 1987, and despite repeated attempts to get it fixed, I am still on the books as a voter there. I wonder how many times I've voted Democrat in Louisville....

Don't they have statistics for some of these precincts that show that 120% of registered voters actually cast ballots in the last election?
