I asked about divorce when I was at the vigil (meaning Michael and Terri); was told that in that diocese, an annulment could probably be obtained from a vending machine. fwiw.

That's probably true, but only applies if they want to be married in the catholic church, or practice the catholic faith.

MS'actions wherein he allegedly removed religious articles (somewhere I read somebody got something blessed by the pope and put it by Terri and it was removed), as well as not allowing Terri to receive communion demonstrate that he may be hostile to catholicism; he was raised Lutheran, and it isn't known if he converted. His girlfriend has an Italian name which would make me tend to believe she is at least nominally catholic, but not necessarily so.
