You're confusing, deliberately I'm sure, marijuana with hemp.

Hemp was widely used, not marijuana.

Hemp:1 a : a tall widely cultivated Asian herb (Cannabis sativa) as the Merriam Webster dictionary states.

Besides the fact that this was the particular herb they
were planting.

It is my understanding that several of the Founding Fathers smoked marijuana.

And you drug warriors are confusing, deliberately I'm sure, marijuana with hemp as well, given the legal restrictions on hemp seeds, oil, and cloth, even though they contain absolutely miniscule amounts of THC. But then again, your drug war isn't about intoxicants anyway, its about expansive and intrusive government power - so if you can no-knock a bird-seed distributor, you will and you do.
