It wasn't an ultamatum, it was a statement of fact.
You want respect, do not defend the indefensible, you want respect, then be respectable.
It doesn't mean that we have to agree, but it does mean that we have to agree on what is and what is not acceptable behavior.
ALS and his buddies behavior is not acceptable among adults, and is indefensible.
You defend that behavior, or those that act in that fashion, then you are not worthy of respect either.

Your judgments are highly questionable! And I am aware that respect is not something you have any familiarity with.
