Among the problems for ID (which keeps ID from rising to the level of theory and keeps it hovering somwhere between buzzword and nonsense) is ID's failure to explain why things like the vitamin C thing should occur with humans and chimps but not lemurs. The graffiti DNA from inactivated viruses also shows tree-like clades and ID doesn't predict why these should line up as they do. It's in its failure to make distinctions that ID fails; everything has the same explanation.
