Injury or damage to this part of the brain can be very harmful, because you would not be able to breathe and your heart would not beat.

If I'm not mistaken, the actor Christopher Reeves needs help with his breathing since his horse-riding accident. I don't recall his loving wife hiring lawyers and raising hell about how his life should be terminated. You know, remove all the mechanical gizmos and let him die. For God's sake, I wish Michael Schiavo would be held accountable for his despicable actions.
