Her looks don't matter to me, since I loather her husband all by himself.

Here's a question to ponder (given my post about Susan Bayh, above):

Is she out of the limeligh because she is busy with her own career, or is she out of the limelight because Dean wants to keep her under wraps?

I don't know the answer to that question, probably a little of both. Honestly, can you blame her? Who in their right mind would want to do the kind of stuff that spouses of candidates have to do. To me, that would be pure hell.

Though it is tacky to comment on someone's looks, there is no denying that she is a homely woman.

My guess is that she doesn't "Focus Group" well because of her looks and is thus being kept in the attic.

Not fair....but what is?

There is no denying that she is an unattractive woman. She dresses nicely so in that way she looks presentable. Of course you do not need to be attractive to be a doctor. However good looks helps most careers. It is unusual to see a pairing of a relatively handsome man with an unattractive woman. Why do you think he would want to keep her under wraps (if that is indeed what he is doing)?

Yes, I wonder if Howard is the stable, even-tempered one in that family.

Unless and until we get some information to the contrary, I vote for busy with her own career. By all reports, she has never taken an interest in Howard's political career, from the earliest days on. She has been utterly consistent. She's probably a doctor who is happy being a doctor and pretty busy at it, too.

If I were going to speculate further, I might guess that she liked the idea of being married to a fellow doctor and might not like Howard abandoning a lucrative (at least moderately so, I presume) practice. Further, while doctors often are busy, the time demands on serious politicos are orders of magnitude worse. To step a bit deeper into the swamp of unfounded speculation, let's at least entertain the possibility that she actually liked having her husband around of an evening. If that's the case, she would not be the first to feel herself a political widow.

Pure speculation, but I'd rather think the best of someone until proven wrong. I'm not minded to pick on her because of her husband.
