A key piece of evidence has surfaced indicating the economy is recovering. During the airing of the movie The Untouchables on TMC, several Northwest Airline commercials were shown. Since 911, the only advertisement for airlines has been Southwest (and sparringly at that). Since advertisement is the airline's second most expensive and expendable overhead expense (training is first) and since the economy is intrinsically tied to the U.S. fleet flying, this is more than anecdotal evidence that we are on our way to a full recovery.

Horrible news for the Democrats.
The Democrat party DEPENDS on people losing their jobs, losing their savings and their homes, being miserable - - so that the people then NEED the Democrats for all the "free" stuff they hand out in order to buy votes.
Yes, horrible, disastrous news for Democrats.

Let me recommend "The Bush Boom" by Pittsburgh Radion host Jerry Bowyer. He has done a FANTASTIC job of putting tons of infortmation about the recovery in his latest book. I have a preview copy and wil be posting come of the info on a separate thread, possibly tomorrow night. It has become an invaluable handbook I take with me when I debate the ratz at the local watering holes! You can check soem of it out here:
The Bush Boom
It was also reviewed at SLATE.com. Here's a teaser. "Open-minded Liberal Dan Gross has written a fair and (reasonably) balanced analysis of The Bush Boom, both the phenomenon and the book. Enjoy:
"In Bush Boom, Bowyer argues that markets and investor activity can tell us more about the economy's health than the backward-looking government data upon which we usually rely. As evidence for the boom, he points to personal income, which has grown at a 5 percent clip since the third quarter of 2001, strong productivity, and reduced taxes on investment. (OK, OK, and OK.) Employment growth, he argues in the antidisestablishmentarian vein, is happening under the radar screen. (Maybe.)"
And another good review on Wired.com as well.
Like I mentioned Jerry has done an Excellent job of putting the data together, and backs it all up with references. That ratz run when I open it and start quoting!

The Natural Gas shortage should help do in the economy around the March time frame.
By that time the dollar index should be down another 10-20% and loitering around the high 70's low 80's, especially if it breaks the 90 support line.
A lower dollar would help exports, but if also will give foreign countries reason to dump their dollar reserves and treasury bonds. The possiblity exists that this is already happening and places like China and Russia are switching into Euros and gold.
I don't see a bright future just yet for the USA. IMHO.
