These soldiers could have endangered others in their unit by getting married while on patrol. For all they knew it could have been trap to kill them. What if others on their patrol were attacked during the "ceremony" and they weren't where they needed to be to protect them?

The dereliction of duty charge is appropriate here.

Second: These women are afraid they'll be seen as collaborating with the enemy? And just how are they seen as translators?

I wonder about this story. It sounds like tabloid stuff to me.
